Why private lessons?

Why private lessons.  Here at the Boca Raton Karate & Kickboxing Academy we focus on Private instruction with small group classes as a supplement to your training.  Many people ask how personal classes are better than the large group classes you find in most martial arts schools.

1.) Personalize your education and customize your workout.
In a group classes you are going to do whatever is planned for the group that day/week.  While we have a curriculum and requirements to obtain a Black Belt .  Not every student has the same goal.  Some students are more focus on the sport of kickboxing.  They love the energy and workout.  Some students are more focused on the real world self defense.   It's up to you and your instructor to find a path that works for you and your goals.

2.) Accelerated learning
We find that students learn 15 to 20 times faster in a private session.  You will have the undivided attention of your certified trainer / Instructor.  Making sure mistakes or difficulties are fixed immediately (many times in a group setting students develop bad habits before the teacher even notices them and they are twice as hard to fix.) .

3.) Teach to your level and how you learn.
Not every student learns the same.  Many students need a more hands on approach, or are more visual.  We teach how the students learns.

4.) safety
Nothing more dangerous than 2 beginners working together.  Many times we hear stories of students getting hurt working with other students.  Here at the Boca Raton Karate & Kickboxing Academy you are working with your certified trainer with years of experience.

5.) Your class / your schedule
Classes are taught throughout the day.  It is your time.  We schedule your class to fit your needs and can adjust as your life changes. We just ask for a 4 hour warning to cancel a class.

6.) bond with your instructor
For me, the best part of private instruction is getting to know the student.  Being a mentor & friend to my students.  I've had the pleasure to watch students grow, graduate high school, go off to college and beyond.

SAME BOCA RATON KARATE & KICKBOXING.  NEW FOCUS, NEW SCHEDULE

Hello BRKKA Families!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Parent Zoom Meeting.  There were a lot of great questions and I hope we answered all of them.  If not, the below info should help, or give us a call at anytime.

We recorded our meeting and will have it available as a replay for anyone who missed it.

THE DOJO is OPEN!
Private Classes offered at Group Class pricing.
NEW SCHEDULE STARTING JUNE 1, 2020

Times have certainly changed, but the martial arts is one of those constants that will continue to give you and your family wonderful benefits - focus, confidence, exercise, self-defense and much more. It's time to get back to what makes us healthy and what we in the dojo do best.
In keeping with safety and social distancing guidelines, we are offering all our students the opportunity to have PRIVATE one-on-one lessons each week, with limited, small group classes offered either in the dojo or available online live and with replays. You can take classes in the dojo again, or choose to practice at home... whatever and wherever you feel most comfortable.
Moving forward, there are two basic membership options for all age groups:
ONE 30-MIN PRIVATE CLASS + One Group Class/Week - $140/month
Both Private Classes and Group classes can be held in the dojo (advance reservation) or online. Unlimited Online Zoom group classes (live and replays) are included in this package, plus we are creating a video library of curriculum that will also be included.
2nd, 3rd person and family rates are VERY REASONABLE, as long as private class time is shared. Longer private lesson rates are available, just give us a call for details.
ONLY GROUP CLASSES - $120/month
2 small group classes/week in dojo (reservations needed - approximately 8 students per class). Or participate with Zoom with unlimited online group class participation, live or replays. Plus we are creating a video library of curriculum that will also be included.
2nd, 3rd person and family rates are available. Call for details.

If you want to change your current package for June, give us a call as soon as you can, or respond to this email with what you would like to do.  If we don't hear from you, you will be charged on June 1st the exact same price you paid in prior months.  We will make adjustments as we go throughout the month.

Thank you again for being so supportive.

sugar is everywhere.

Sugar is everywhere

It's February and time to talk about sugar.  Valentine's Day brings more treats, candy and chocolate but everyone know those have sugar in them.  It's the food that has hidden sugar or added sugar that we don't think about.  Appropriately 70 percent of the food in the grocery store has added sugar.  This adds 20 - 30 tsps of sugar to our diet everyday or an additional 320 - 480 calories per day.  Now, we have to look at our food labels, but they don't make it easy to spot the sugar.  Their are 56 different names for sugar.  Below is a list.

This month, we are on the hunt for hidden sugar.  find a label with added sugar that is a surprise.

Fitness requirements for youth Kenpo classes

Strong Black Belts - fitness requirements and the power of consistant training

A black Belt should be strong.
That makes sense, nobody imagines a black belt as someone out of shape, overweight and weak.  On our martial arts journey we will work to become strong and fit.  In our requirements guide "The path to Black Belt mastery" we lay out the minimum requirements by levels, beginer (White, Yellow and Orange) intermediate (Purple, Blue and Green) Advanced ( Brown, Red and Advanced Red) and last Black Belt.

Beginer level students should be able to do 100 jumping jacks, 30 seconds of plank and 10 reps of push-ups, sit-ups, squats and burpees.
Intermediate level students should be able to do 150 jumping jacks, 60 seconds of plank and 20 reps of push-ups, sit-ups, squats and burpees.
Advanced level students should be able to do 200 jumping jacks, 120 seconds of plank and 30 oreps of push-ups, sit-ups, squats and burpees.
Black Belt level students should be able to do 250 jumping jacks, 240 seconds of plank and 100 oreps of push-ups, sit-ups, squats and burpees.

Now many will see this and believe that is just about fitness but it is so much more than just that.  We are giving our students a path.  Showing them the power of small consistant action to create big results.  We often talk about how we will get from beginner level to black belt level.  "It doesn't happen overnight and it won't magically happen while you are sleeping."  We reach these goal one step at a time, one push-up at a time.

We have found far too many people quit because that don't know how to set and break down goals.
